Takaaki Kajita is currently the Special University Professor at the University of Tokyo.
He was the Director of the Institute for Cosmic Ray Research (ICRR) of the University of Tokyo until March 2022.
Kajita received his Ph.D. from the University of Tokyo School of Science in 1986,
and has been researching at Kamiokande and Super-Kamiokande detectors at the Kamioka Observatory in central Japan.
In 1998, at the International Conference on Neutrino Physics and Astrophysics (Neutrino 1998) held in Takayama, Gifu, he presented the analysis results that provided strong evidence for atmospheric neutrino oscillations.
In 2015 he received the Nobel Prize in Physics for his role in discovering atmospheric neutrino oscillations.
Currently, he is the project leader of KAGRA gravitational wave project.

카지타 박사는 현재 동경대 석좌교수로 재직 중이다.
1986년에 동경대에서 카미오칸데 및 수퍼-카미오칸데 실험연구로 물리학 박사학위를 받았다.
1998년에 일본 다까야마에서 열린 국제중성미자학회에서 수퍼-카미오칸데의 “대기 중성미자 진동”에 대한 놀라운 연구결과를 발표하였고, 이 결과는 2015년 카지타 박사의 노벨물리학상 수상이라는 쾌거를 이끌어 냈다. 2008년 초부터 2022년 초반까지 동경대 우주선 연구소의 소장을 역임하였다.
현재는 “카그라 (KAGRA)”라는 중력파 실험의 리더로서 활동하고 있다.
